$Paro Taktsang (Dzongkha: སྤ་གྲོ་སྟག་ཚང་, also known as the Taktsang Palphug Monastery and the Tiger's Nest), is a sacred Vajrayana Himalayan Buddhist site located in the cliffside of the upper Paro valley in Bhutan. It is one of thirteen Tiger's Nest caves in historical Tibet in which Padmasambhava practiced and taught Vajrayana.\n\nA later monastery complex was built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave, where Guru Padmasambhava meditated and practiced with students including Yeshe Tsogyal before departing the kingdom of Tibet in the early 9th century. Padmasambhava is credited with introducing Vajrayana Buddhism to Bhutan, which was then part of Tibet, and is the tutelary deity of the country. Datong, Shanxi, China- March 2, 2013: the Hanging Temple Mt. Heng, located 60 kilometers southeast of Datong, China, in the Shanxi province, is one of the world’s forgotten wonders. Clinging to a crag of Hengshan mountain, in apparent defiance of gravity, it consists of 40 rooms linked by a dizzying maze of passageways. The temple is said to have been built during 386-534. It was constructed by drilling holes into the cliffside into which the poles that hold up the temples are set. Here is external view of the temple.

$Paro Taktsang (also known as the Tiger's Nest Monastery), is a Himalayan Buddhist temple complex located at a sacred site in the cliffside of the upper Paro valley in Bhutan.\n\nThe temple complex was first built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave where Guru Padmasambhava, who is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan, is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in the 8th century. \n\nThe complex was destroyed by fire in 1998 and restored in 2005.$
