The White pelican has the second longest wingspan of any bird in North America after the California Condor, and can weigh up to 13.6 kg (30 lbs). In breeding plumage, they acquire a horny plate on the upper bill and spiky white feathers on their crown. They winter in the southern half of the United States through Mexico and Central America and breed from northern California to northern Canada.

Several pelicans gracefully swim on the surface of a tranquil lake, their large wings folded neatly against their bodies as they glide effortlessly through the water. These majestic seabirds, known for their distinctive long bills and expansive wingspans, create a serene tableau against the backdrop of the lake's reflective surface. With their webbed feet propelling them smoothly, they navigate the aquatic habitat with ease, occasionally dipping their bills into the water in search of fish. Soon, with a synchronized flurry of wings, they take flight, their departure marking a fleeting yet captivating moment of natural beauty in the coastal landscape.
