Roskilde, Denmark - December 14, 2015: Frescoes painted in the beginning of the 1500s in St. Birgitta's Chapel of Roskilde Cathedral. The chapel is named arter St. Bridget of Sweden, founder of Bridgettine Order.

Restored fresco on the wall in Sankt Mariæ Kirke – The Church of Our Lady – is part of a former Carmelite Priory and the church is from 1430. Today it is a normal Danish church in Helsingør also known as Elsinore in English.

For many generations, Fanefjord Church's frescos - Biblia pauperum style - were hidden under a covering of plaster. From 1932 to 1934 the frescos were painstakingly uncovered under the guidance of the National Museum.

$A recovered ancient fresco on display at the Aarhus Cathedral in Denmark, used to educate people who could not read, depicting the Christian concept of heaven, earth and hell, top to bottom. \nAarhus Cathedral's walls were originally covered with murals, but during the Reformation, they were whitewashed. Gradually several of the paintings have been been uncovered. Despite the loss, it is the church in Denmark that has the largest area of frescoes.$
