Gubbio, Umbria, Italy -- A typical door of a medieval stone house in the historic heart of Gubbio in Umbria, central Italy, with a Latin script under the arch. Ancient allied city of Rome and born on the communication routes between the Tyrrhenian coast and the Adriatic coast, Gubbio is famous for its artistic treasures and considered the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy. This Umbrian town is also known for the life of St. Francis of Assisi and the miracle of the encounter between him and a wolf. Gubbio is also famous for the traditional and ancient race of the Festa dei Ceri, which takes place every year in May. The Umbria region is the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the olive oil produced in these lands.
