Haverfordwest, Wales - November 23, 2022: Studio shot of obsolete British one penny, half penny and farthing coins. The latter two were originally cut from a one penny coin, either into halves or quarters (fourthings). The farthing was phased out in 1960 and the larger penny and the mid-sized half penny went after UK decimalisation in 1971.
Here is a view of the “Alma Mater” statue at Columbia University, seen from the back. The statue looks south across the quadrangle to the Butler Library. \n\nThe statue’s sculptor was Daniel Chester French (1850-1931,) who, among other famous works, designed the Lincoln statue at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. \n\nAlma Mater, a representation of the University, wears a crown of laurel leaves and an academic gown. She holds a scepter in her right hand.
The famous Danish philosopher and author Søren Kirkegaard (1813-1855) is buried - with his family - in Assistens Cemetery.\nAssistens Cemetery in the district Nørrebro in Copenhagen, Denmark was established in 1790 outside the old walls of Copenhagen. Many famous Danes are buried there
