Storks have a nearly cosmopolitan distribution, being absent from the poles, most of North America and large parts of Australia. The stork diversity are in tropical Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, with eight and six breeding species respectively.

A saddle-billed stork is seen in this photo. The bird is standing in a marsh. The colors of the photo are well saturated. You can see rainbow colors in the edge of the black feathers on the back of the bird. There are many shades of blue red and black in the entire bird. Even when closed, the beak has a partial opening.
